" ) opens with "5 Years, 8 Months and 12 Days" (reference to how long Debbie Ocean was incarcerated), a teaser opener with hints of what is to come, music style-wise. "NYC Larceny" is a frenzied and percussion-heavy jazz track (as Debbie Ocean racks up a stash at Bergdorf Goodman). The high energy continues on "We Are Going to Rob It". The funkier "Nine-Ball" is a musical reflection of the character played by Rihanna, and the same is true for the next track "Deborah Ocean", the character played by Sandra Bullock. By the time we get to "Hacking The Met" (about 1/3 into the album), the soundtrack hits its groove, and we get one slick track after another, many of them lounge jazz-reminding tunes that reflect the spirit of the movie quite accurately. I'm guessing that for many listeners this will be a :love it" or "hate it" listening experience. I quite like it, even if at times I wish there was more variety to the score. But you have to admire the composing skills of Daniel Pemberton, as if doing a style exercise. The album ends with two of its stronger tunes: the nervous "The Actual Heist" and the buoyant "Moog Necklace", which sums up the entire score quite nicely." ( amazon customer)
