This double album is awesome. Unlike Fashion Week and Government Plates, MC Ride's vocals are prominent on most of this album. The first side is a glitchy, bjork sample filled collage of electronic music. The second half is guitar dominant with the instrumentation sounding like a blend of Black Sabbath, Nine Inch Nails, and Nirvana. Although they could stand on their own as two different albums, they compliment each other nicely. As would be expected, the lyrical content is cryptic and dark, and the production value is outstanding. If you enjoyed any of their other albums, then you should get this one.
A number of people have said that N****s on the Moon and Jenny Death are so different that they dont really belong together in the same album. I think this is a little shortsighted. The cerebral lyrics and rhythmic intensity of NOTM creates a perfect counterpoint to the aggressive, loud, rocking music of JD. Each half of the album highlights a different facet of Death Grips as a band. NOTM tends toward obscurity while JD is more easily accessible. Ive always seen Death Grips as being difficult and immensely enjoyable - simultaneously. The Powers That B perfectly encapsulates this duality.
