This may not be the best place to start if you're just getting into Hendrix's music but if you can't get enough of his work (like me) then you should get your hands on this record anyway possible. I found out about this record after I picked up Valleys of Neptune and the tracks "Slow Version" and "Trash Man" stem from these sessions. These jams were recorded between Feb. and April of 1969 with the Experience and and assortment of other musicians like Billy Cox, Rocky Isaac, Al Marks, Roland Robinson, Jim McCarty, and Sharon Layne.

In my opinion the real standouts of this record are Ezy Ryder/Star Spangled Banner which is just brimming with power and Jimi/Jimmy Jam. When Jimi rips into the Star Spangled Banner it is a real gem which greatly outshines the Woodstock version. Even though a little rough the overdrive on Jimi/Jimmy Jam is awesome and shows Hendrix's genious. Jam 292 is a much better quality version than the one that's on Jimi Hendrix: Blues.

There are also two early versions of Valleys of Neptune a guitar only version and a piano version (which closes the record). Get this if you want a good inside look of how Jimi worked. Also pick up Burning Desire and Morning Symphony Ideas for an even bigger picture of Jimi.
