2010 album from the model, singer/songwriter and wife of Jack 'of all trades' White (White Stripes/The Dead Weather). In a coolly inviting voice, strumming an acoustic guitar, Karen Elson summons up a dark yet seductive atmosphere...an after-midnight world that is irresistibly mysterious and alluring.
The arrangements for her small band (featuring the virtuosic Jackson Smith on guitar, Elson's longtime collaborator Rachelle Garniez on accordion and vocals, and husband-producer Jack on drums) evoke the lonesome side of Country or the tormented side of the Blues; with eerie organ touches, keening electric guitars and some mean Rock swagger.
the music is on the alternative rock/folk style. definitely worth the look.
Karen Elson AKA Mrs. Jack White has started her music career. A quick switch from being a model and rock star wife, she actually has a voice on her!
It's a blue grass neo sixties style with Mr. White on the production side. Add in a few members from My Morning Jacket and you have Karen Elson's debut album. The first song, The Ghost That Walks, hooked me.
Karen Elson - 'The Ghost Who Walks' (Live Acoustic)
great voice, great song...it contains the same mood as a Nancy Sinatra song

Karen Elson - Pretty Babies
Most original artist I've seen, long-time. It does look Kill Bill-ish, but I think it also looks Sweeney Todd-ish... There's a little dark cabaret in it. Not just Mr. White's ex-wife, Karen Elson is a full artist!

Karen Elson - Cruel Summer
The lazy sweet nature the strum pattern, chords and vocals give it a nostalgic appeal, which is nice. Lyrics are straightforward, but lend to the song's sense of nostalgia.
