I've only had the album for a few days but I've been listening to Mimicking Birds exclusively since. The sound is a fuller and for the most part a little more up tempo.

I consider their debut album an absolute unheralded masterpiece. I've listened to it 100s of times and I'm still finding new stuff.

What an outstanding band - what a shame more people aren't aware of this beautiful music.


Portland's Mimicking Birds are back with their sophomore offering "Eons," which in the simplest way can be described as amazing. The track arrangement is excellent with beautiful instrumentation such as the standout acoustic fingerpicking. Standouts include fan favorites "Owl Hoots" and "Bloodlines," though my personal favorites are "Water Under Burned Bridges" and "Night Light."

Nate Lacy's singing is soft with lyrics that flow so well. It almost seems as though he never runs out of breath. What I really appreciate is that each song is deep in its own way and consistently strong. In addition, some are actually quite haunting.

"Eons" is by far one of the best releases of the year. As a whole it has a truly remarkable feel that combines so many emotions. I recommend this one to just about anyone.
