I hear the catchy guitars and think, "Wow, something new from Galaxy 500? Could it be?" I quickly jump on-line and check out the music list from the show and find out the song is Out of Tune by Real Estate, a band I'd never heard before. That same night I must've listned to Out of Tune 10 or 12 times
10 melodic, hypnotic songs that flow well. It's light. It's pop-like. It's catchy
Real Estate's 2nd album starts where their debut album left off; making a genius mix of pop, psychedelia, surf rock, and alternative sounds. You might want to throw in a little Blue Oyster Cult in there too. The vocals generally have a very "Don't Fear the Reaper" quality to them; which sets in nicely with a beautiful and catchy sound that gives their music an almost "out-of-body-like" feel. This album solidifies my belief that Real Estate is one of more exciting bands to come around in a while.
The "echoey" "vampy" vibe these guys are on is very much in league with my own tastes. I have yet to see them live, but am hoping to catch them sometime soon. This album, although maybe not as stunning as their debut, is a very sturdy effort. Real Estate accomplishes the rare feat of sounding beautiful and catchy. They are definitely ascending up my list of favorite bands. If you are into the alternative and/or jam sound you will mostly likely appreciate this band
