Notes

Profile:
Son House (born March 21, 1902 (?), Riverton, Mississippi, USA – died October 19, 1988, Detroit, Michigan, USA) was an American blues singer and guitarist. House pioneered an innovative style featuring strong, repetitive rhythms, often played with the aid of slide guitar, and his singing often incorporated elements of southern gospel and spiritual music.
You really can't go wrong with Son House. He helped define the Blues in the 1930s and '40s, his impassioned vocal delivery and brutal guitar method laying the groundwork for everything to come. After over a decade and a half in retirement, he was "rediscovered" by the then-burgeoning folk-blues movement, and in the mid-60s, made his first official recordings in over twenty years.
